Dresden Files Book Bargain

I've been very tempted to read and join in the squee on the Dresden Files series for some time now, but on my last two visits to the library I forgot to look for them. Tonight, I was at the mall and thought I'd check out the bookstore and at least have a look at the series.

I asked the saleswoman for the series and she took me to the shelves where they were located, asking if I wanted a specific book. I told her I just wanted to browse through them and that I had not read any of the books in the series yet. She said if I was interested in buying one and did not want a specific book, she had a hardcover copy in the back that had been part of a promotion and then marked down. It missed being put in the box for getting shipped out of the store last week, so she could now include it in this weeks markdowns, too. She said the book would be $2.00. While I might normally have started with the first book in the series, I figured the price was right.

Once I got to the check out, I automatically rummaged for and handed over my store discount card. Then I laughed because I thought that might be a bit much to expect when the $23.95 book was roughly 90% off. However, it turned out that my discount card could indeed be used. The final price was $1.89. So, I now own a nice hardcover version of Small Favor. I hope it is not too hard to jump in so far along in the series, but at that price I was not going to be picky about it.
